I was blessed when Forest Rogers gave me permission to use "The Venetian Harpy" sculpture image for the cover. The image is both mysterious and thought-provoking, inviting a story unto itself. The following words were taken from Ms. Rogers Spectrum 22 Award.
Forest Rogers - "The Venetian Harpy" - Spectrum 22 Dimensional Gold Award Winner - "In pre-history I studied costume design at Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a MFA. Realizing I really wanted to make the actions - the characters and beings themselves - rather than their garments, I began to focus on illustration and sculpture. I was fortunate to work with paleontologists at Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh to create its model-toy line. The project, enduring more than 25 years, gave me grounding in anatomy and a sense of how living creature's work. Workshops from the wonderful Anatomy. Tools.com opened more doors, internal and external. Add to the mix an astonishing artist-mother, Lou P. Rogers and my grandparents' magic bookcase full of Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rockman, and others, and it explains a bundle about me and my work. "The Venetian Harpy," and my recent Spectrum 23 Dimensional Gold Award for "The Morrigan." For more of Forest Rogers work visit: ForestRogers.com, or contact her at forestrogers@gmail.com.
